ACS awarded grant to provide free home Internet access for families
Eligible student households can receive free home Internet access through Comcast’s Internet Essential program
Anderson Community Schools (ACS) received a grant for $191,808 through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)’s Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF). This new grant funding allows ACS to provide eligible student households with free Internet access through June 2023.
“It is vital that our students have access to high speed Internet at home,” said Dr. Kelly Durr, Chief Operations Officer. “We are pleased that through this program we can ensure all of our families have access to free Internet at home.”
In order to access this free service, ACS families must complete the form found here. Once this form is successfully completed, each family will receive a promotional code and instructions on how to apply for Comcast’s Internet Essentials program.
To receive free Internet access through this grant, households must qualify for Comcast’s Internet Essentials program. A list of the program’s eligibility requirements can be found here.
For questions, ACS families should contact Tina Brooks, tbrooks@acsc.net.
The FCC has dedicated $7.17 billion to the ECF to help schools and libraries provide the tools and services their communities need for remote learning. ECF will help provide relief to millions of students, school staff, and library patrons and will help close the Homework Gap for students who currently lack necessary Internet access.
