City of Elwood recently issued the following announcement.
National Vietnam War Veterans Day
"Not only today, but EVERY day, I am filled with gratitude for the men and women who served our country during the Vietnam War. We live in a world where freedom is often taken for granted. I pray that our Vietnam Veterans know that we are humbly thankful for their service and for the sacrifices they made and continue to make today. As Mayor, I would urge our citizens to take some time not just today but throughout the year to reach out to a Vietnam Veteran to show your support. Call them. Send them a letter or card. Let your children draw or color a picture and send it to them. Post something on their Facebook page. Pray for them.
On behalf of a grateful City, THANK YOU and WELCOME HOME, Vietnam Veterans. May you always feel the love and respect you all so richly deserve."
