City of Elwood recently issued the following announcement.
“The City of Elwood is gearing up for the anticipated weather forecast for this week. Our Street Department is ready to tackle whatever Mother Nature sends our way. Crews will be working split shifts to ensure that salting/plowing can be done 24 hours each day if needed. We have changed Thursday’s trash collection day to Friday this week. The Recycle Center will be closed Thursday, and we will most likely suspend curbside recycling for Friday if the forecast stays true to what it says at this time. We have asked citizens to move vehicles and basketball goals from the street if possible so plows can maneuver easier and not plow vehicles in. We are currently looking at emergency parking schedules on streets and reviewing all snow emergency plans. We encourage residents to stay home if they can, and if they have to go out to use extreme caution. We are also asking that they check on elderly and homebound neighbors and bring pets indoors.
